You can try using a Coinepay virtual card to pay for a Qobuz streaming subscription on Qobuz’s website. This guide covers what to prepare, how to choose and pay for a plan, and what to check if the payment is declined. Card acceptance depends on Qobuz’s checkout and payment checks, so a successful charge cannot be assumed.

Before you start

  • Check your Qobuz country. Qobuz sign-up is available only in supported countries. Choose your real country on Qobuz’s website and review the offers shown there. Qobuz says an account is tied to the country where it was created, although you can subsequently use the account while traveling.
  • Prepare your Coinepay card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV are available after issuance in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. Check the card’s available funds and any applicable card settings there before checkout.
  • Use your real billing details. Have the name and billing address associated with your payment details ready. Do not select a different country or enter an invented address to get around Qobuz’s regional or payment rules.
  • Review the checkout amount. Prices vary by country, plan and billing period. Look at Qobuz’s official Streaming plans or offers page for the amount you will actually be charged, including any fees shown at checkout.

Qobuz lists payment methods by account country rather than giving one worldwide list. Its help page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal for the US, Australia and New Zealand; for the UK and several listed European markets, it lists Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. Check the methods offered in your own checkout. A listed payment method does not establish that every virtual card will be accepted.

Choose the right Qobuz plan

Qobuz’s streaming plan families are Studio and Sublime. Studio is for streaming. Sublime includes discounts on eligible Hi-Res music downloads in addition to streaming. On the US offers page, Studio has Solo, Duo, Family and Student options; Sublime has Solo, Duo and Family. Duo covers two accounts, while Family covers up to six, subject to Qobuz’s same-household requirement.

Compare monthly billing with annual billing carefully. An annual offer may display a per-month equivalent, but the annual amount is paid in one payment. For example, at the time of writing (October 2026), the US Studio Solo offer displayed $12.99 for monthly billing and $10.83 per month as an annual-payment equivalent. Check Qobuz’s official offers page for current pricing in your country and the full amount due before you confirm. The US Sublime offers page displayed annual-payment equivalents, not a monthly option.

Qobuz describes a 30-day trial limited to one per customer. It requires a valid payment method for country verification. If you are eligible and do not cancel, billing begins after the trial; if you have already used a trial, Qobuz says it charges immediately. Read the trial and renewal terms shown for your account rather than assuming checkout will be free today.

Subscribe on the Qobuz website

  1. Open Qobuz’s Streaming plans or offers page. Confirm that the displayed country is your actual account country and compare Studio and Sublime, the account option and the billing period.
  2. Select your offer. For Duo or Family, Qobuz directs you to select that plan on Streaming plans, then sign in or create an account. Follow the account and subscription prompts for your chosen offer.
  3. Review the order. Check whether you are starting a trial or paying immediately. For an annual plan, look at the single payment due rather than only the displayed monthly equivalent. Review any additional payment fees shown before confirming.
  4. Enter your Coinepay virtual card details. Retrieve the card number, expiry date and CVV from the Coinepay app or dashboard. Enter your real billing details in the payment form and check each field before submitting.
  5. Complete any security prompt. If checkout asks you to verify the payment, follow the instructions presented for that transaction. Do not repeatedly resubmit while a verification step is pending.
  6. Confirm the result. Look for Qobuz’s on-screen confirmation and check your Qobuz account for the active plan. Also review your Coinepay activity. If the result is unclear, check both accounts before trying another payment to avoid an unintended duplicate purchase.

If you already have a website-billed Qobuz plan and only need to replace its payment method, sign in on the Qobuz website and go to your name at the top right → My profile → My Streaming Plan → Update payment method. Enter the new card details there and follow the prompts. To change plans instead, Qobuz says to select the new offer on its offers page and confirm payment; it cautions against unsubscribing first if a potential prorated adjustment matters.

If Qobuz declines the card

A decline message does not, by itself, identify which check failed. Users have reported messages including “The payment was declined.” during trial activation and “Incorrect details – try again or use another payment method” at download checkout. These are reports, not confirmed diagnoses of a specific card or Qobuz issue. Work through the checks below before trying again.

  • Insufficient available funds: Check the balance available to the card in Coinepay. For annual billing, allow for the full annual payment rather than the monthly equivalent displayed on the offers page. Review the final checkout amount, which may differ from the plan’s list price.
  • Billing details mismatch: Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVV carefully. Check that your name and billing address reflect your real details and that the Qobuz account country is correct. Do not change your details to imitate another region.
  • Security verification or 3-D Secure: If a verification challenge appears, complete it as directed and return to checkout. If it expires or never completes, check the Coinepay app for relevant activity and contact Coinepay support if you need help understanding the card-side result. Qobuz support can help with a Qobuz checkout error.
  • Merchant or region checks: Qobuz uses a valid payment method for trial country verification and ties accounts to their sign-up country. Check that you are signing up in a supported country using your genuine account and billing information. If Qobuz rejects the payment despite correct details, ask Qobuz whether its checkout can accept your card for that account country. You can also contact Coinepay support about a card-side decline.

Other users have reported “payment failed due to a security violation” and “Payment refused.” Neither phrase establishes the cause of your own decline. Note the exact message, the time of the attempt and whether it concerned a subscription, trial or download when asking support for help. Avoid sending a full card number or CVV in a support message.

Manage renewal or cancel later

For a subscription billed through the Qobuz website, go to your Qobuz account, open My Streaming Plan, choose Unsubscribe and complete the prompts. Qobuz says streaming continues until the current period ends; your account and library remain. If you subscribed through a third-party app store, cancel through that store instead.

Do not leave cancellation until the last moment. Qobuz’s published terms say it must receive cancellation at least 48 hours before renewal for it to take effect at period-end, while an older trial help article refers to 24 hours before billing. Check the applicable deadline for your account with Qobuz and retain your cancellation confirmation. Qobuz’s terms generally describe a started streaming period as non-refundable under its stated withdrawal policy, subject to applicable consumer rights.

Finally, a Qobuz streaming subscription is separate from buying permanent music downloads. Download-store checkout follows choose an album’s quality → Add to basket → Access Payment → choose a payment method → Pay, and no streaming subscription is required to buy a download. Qobuz’s terms say download purchases are unavailable in Latin American countries and Portugal; that restriction should not be confused with streaming availability.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for a Qobuz trial?

You can enter the card at Qobuz checkout, but acceptance is not assured. Qobuz requires a valid payment method for trial country verification, limits trials to one per customer and charges immediately if you have already used one.

Will Qobuz charge me monthly for an annual plan?

No. A per-month figure on an annual offer is an equivalent price; the annual plan is paid in one payment. Check the full checkout amount before confirming.

Where do I update my card for a Qobuz website subscription?

Sign in on the Qobuz website, then go to your name at the top right → My profile → My Streaming Plan → Update payment method.

What should I do if Qobuz says my payment was declined?

Check available funds, card details, your real billing address and any security prompt. If those look right, record the exact error and ask Qobuz about its checkout or Coinepay support about the card-side result.
