You can start with a MEGA Free account and choose a paid plan when you need more storage or transfer capacity. This guide covers paying through MEGA’s web checkout with a Coinepay virtual card, then checking your subscription and resolving common payment problems.
Choose the right MEGA plan and checkout
MEGA lists several individual tiers: Free, MEGA Essential, Pro Lite, Pro I, Pro II, Pro III and Pro Flexi. Business is a separate account plan. Free includes 20 GB of storage. MEGA Essential was offered as an annual-only plan in the offers checked; other billing choices depend on the plan and checkout shown to you.
For a straightforward Pro subscription, compare Pro Lite, Pro I, Pro II and Pro III on MEGA’s official pricing page. Check the storage and transfer allowances as well as the billing period before selecting a plan. Pro Flexi has a usage-based component, so read its current pricing terms carefully rather than assuming its base charge is the full amount you will pay. Prices can vary by region and purchase channel; use the total displayed at MEGA’s checkout as your reference.
Use the web checkout if you want to enter your Coinepay card directly at MEGA. MEGA’s iOS app also offers in-app purchases, but those use Apple’s purchase flow rather than MEGA’s web card form. An app-store subscription is managed through the app-store account, not by changing the card saved in your MEGA web account.
What you need before paying
- A MEGA account: You can create a Free account without entering a credit card. Use your real account and contact details.
- A verified Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
- Your virtual card details: Coinepay provides a card number, expiry date and CVV. Retrieve the current details from your Coinepay app or self-service dashboard when you are ready to pay.
- Enough available funds: Check the amount MEGA will charge for the selected billing period, then check your available balance in Coinepay. If you need information about applicable card charges or limits, consult the app or contact Coinepay support.
- Accurate billing information: Have the billing name and address associated with your payment details ready. Use your real information, and make sure it is entered consistently at checkout.
Availability can vary by jurisdiction. A virtual card’s details alone do not establish that a particular MEGA checkout will accept it; the payment remains subject to MEGA’s checkout requirements and payment checks.
How to subscribe to MEGA Pro with your Coinepay card
- Create or sign in to your MEGA account. Go to MEGA’s official website and register for a Free account if you do not already have one. Follow its account-verification prompts, then sign in.
- Open MEGA’s pricing page. Review Pro Lite, Pro I, Pro II and Pro III. Select the tier and billing period that match your needs, and read the amount and renewal terms shown for your location. If you choose Essential or Pro Flexi instead, review that plan’s distinct billing terms before proceeding.
- Continue to the web checkout. Follow MEGA’s prompts until you reach its payment-method selection. MEGA describes credit and debit cards as web purchase options, although the options displayed can depend on location. Choose the card option if it is offered.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card details. Copy the card number, expiry date and CVV from Coinepay. Enter your real billing details carefully. Check for transposed digits, an expired card, or an address field that differs from your payment records.
- Review before confirming. Check the plan name, billing period, total due now and recurring-payment terms on MEGA’s confirmation screen. Complete any payment authentication requested during checkout. Do not close the page until it reports the outcome.
- Verify the result. Look for MEGA’s purchase confirmation and check the plan shown in your account. Also review the transaction in your Coinepay dashboard or app. If a charge appears but the upgrade does not, keep the transaction details and contact MEGA support before attempting to pay again.
MEGA subscriptions can renew monthly or annually until cancelled. If you intend to keep the plan, check that the card you use remains valid and that sufficient funds are available for future renewal charges.
What to do if MEGA declines the card
A decline message rarely identifies the cause by itself. Users have reported messages including “Something went wrong—Please verify your payment details and try again” and “Payment for your subscription has been declined.” Neither message proves that the card number is wrong: the issue could involve available funds, authentication, payment checks or a processing problem. Work through these checks rather than submitting the same payment repeatedly.
Check balance and card entries
Compare the checkout total with the available balance shown in Coinepay, allowing for any amount or currency information displayed during payment. If the balance is insufficient, fund the account through the options available to you in Coinepay before retrying. Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV from the current card details; do not rely on an older saved copy. If MEGA is retrying a renewal against an expired card, the saved payment method may need updating.
Check your billing address
A mistyped name, postal code or address can interfere with payment verification. Compare what you entered at MEGA with your real billing details and correct any mistake. Do not substitute an address in another country to make a regional checkout appear available. If you are unsure which details should be used, ask Coinepay support before trying again.
Complete any 3-D Secure prompt
If checkout opens a card-authentication step, follow the on-screen instructions and wait for it to finish. A closed, timed-out or unsuccessful prompt can leave the purchase incomplete. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for relevant transaction information. If authentication repeatedly fails, share the time, amount and error shown with Coinepay support; avoid sending your full card number or CVV in a support message.
Check merchant and regional requirements
Payment options can vary by location, and a merchant or its payment processor may apply regional checks. Confirm that the plan and card option are offered at your actual location and that your account and billing information are accurate. Coinepay cannot override MEGA’s checkout rules. If no card option appears, or MEGA rejects a correctly entered card despite sufficient funds, contact MEGA about the checkout requirement and Coinepay support about the card transaction. Ask MEGA whether another purchase channel is available to you rather than trying to work around a location restriction.
Stop and investigate if MEGA shows a temporary purchase block after repeated attempts. A user has reported such a block, but that report does not establish a general retry limit or explain any particular decline. Save the exact message and avoid repeated submissions while seeking support.
Manage renewal, cancellation and refunds
For a web-billed subscription, sign in to MEGA and open Account → Plan. MEGA support identifies Edit card there as the way to change the saved debit or credit card. Use your logged-in MEGA account to cancel web billing; changing or removing a card is not a substitute for confirming cancellation.
If you purchased through an app store, manage that subscription through the relevant app-store account instead. For Apple in-app purchases, MEGA’s listing says to turn off renewal no later than 24 hours before the next payment.
Check MEGA’s current terms before requesting a refund. Its terms effective April 2, 2026 provide a request-for-any-reason refund window of 14 days for EU residents and 7 days for residents of Brazil or South Korea, with an unequivocal request by email. Purchases outside those jurisdictions are generally final unless applicable law or an offer says otherwise. The terms also call for reporting an erroneous charge within 30 days, or a mistaken, unused subscription purchase within 24 hours. They do not ordinarily provide a prorated refund for unused subscription time, but say a payment processed after an effective cancellation will be refunded.
Before downgrading to Free, check your stored data against the Free allowance: MEGA’s terms warn that access to an over-quota account may be restricted. Keep your purchase confirmation and cancellation record so you can identify the transaction if you need help.

FAQ
Can I open a MEGA account before getting a Coinepay card?
Yes. MEGA lets you start with a Free account without a credit card. To use Coinepay card services, register and complete identity verification first.
Where do I update the card for a MEGA web subscription?
Sign in to MEGA, open Account → Plan and select Edit card. App-store subscriptions are managed through the app-store account instead.
Why does MEGA say my subscription payment was declined?
The message alone does not identify the cause. Check your available balance, card entries, real billing details and any authentication prompt; then contact support if the decline continues.
Will paying in the MEGA iOS app charge my card through MEGA’s web checkout?
No. MEGA’s listed iOS in-app purchases use Apple’s purchase flow. To enter a card at MEGA’s web checkout, start on MEGA’s website.
