You can enter a Coinepay virtual card at Magoosh checkout when buying an eligible test-prep plan. This guide walks through choosing a plan, completing the order with your real billing details, and checking common reasons a card payment might be declined. Payment remains subject to Magoosh’s checkout requirements and your card issuer’s authorization.
What you need before you start
- A Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Once your virtual card is issued, its card number, expiry date and CVV are available instantly in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- A Magoosh plan: Choose the test you are preparing for and check the access period, included features and total due on that test’s official Magoosh pricing page.
- Your real details: Have an email address, your actual cardholder name and the billing ZIP or postal code associated with your payment details ready. Do not substitute an invented address to make a payment pass.
- Enough available funds: Check the amount due at checkout, including any applicable taxes or additional charges, and review your available card funds in Coinepay before submitting the order.
Magoosh’s general payment guidance lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal. TOEFL and IELTS also list additional payment options, but the options displayed can differ by checkout. The list does not establish whether a particular virtual card will be accepted. If the checkout specifies a card-type or issuing-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets it before you buy.
Choose the right Magoosh plan
Magoosh sells preparation for different exams, so start on the pricing page for the exam you intend to take rather than assuming that one plan or renewal rule applies to all products. These examples were displayed at the time of writing (October 2026); check the relevant official Magoosh pricing page for the current price and checkout total before paying.
| Test | Examples shown in October 2026 | Detail to check |
|---|---|---|
| GRE | Premium · 1 month: $149; Premium · 6 months: $179; Premium + Admissions: $219 | Choose an access period that fits your test date. |
| TOEFL | Premium · 1 month: $109; Premium · 6 months: $129 | Review the access period before checkout. |
| IELTS | Premium · 1 month: $109; Premium · 6 months: $129 | Checkout distinguishes Academic from General Training. |
| SAT | Premium: $49/month; Premium + On-Demand Classes: $149/month | Monthly plans auto-renew; check the renewal terms. |
| LSAT | Premium · 12 months: $199; Premium + On-Demand Classes: $499 | A one-time $124 LawHub Advantage fee also applies to purchasers who need LawHub access. |
For other exams, use the corresponding Magoosh pricing page rather than applying a price from this table. Where Magoosh offers four installments, the first payment is taken at checkout and the others are due monthly. Installments commit you to the full plan price; they are not a monthly subscription you can cancel by stopping your study.
How to sign up and pay with your Coinepay card
- Prepare your card. Sign in to the Coinepay app or dashboard and locate your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check the available funds against the amount you expect to pay.
- Open the correct Magoosh pricing page. Select your exam, compare its plans and click Sign Up on the plan you want. If you choose IELTS, confirm whether you need Academic or General Training at checkout.
- Create your Magoosh login. On the observed registration flow, enter an email address and password. Use an email you can access for order messages and account help.
- Review the payment choice. Select the card payment option if it is offered for your order. If you are considering installments, read the full payment commitment and schedule before choosing them. For an SAT monthly or annual plan, read the auto-renewal terms rather than assuming access simply expires.
- Enter the card details. Fill in the cardholder name, Coinepay card number, expiry date and security code. Enter your real billing ZIP or postal code in the field provided. Review each digit and the name before continuing.
- Check the final order. Apply a promo code only if you have a valid one, then review the plan, amount due now and any future payments or renewals shown. Choose Complete Order only when those details are correct.
- Confirm the result. Look for Magoosh’s order confirmation and check that the intended course appears in your account. If the page does not confirm the purchase, check for an order email or account access before trying again, so you do not submit a duplicate order.
Checkout labels can change. If the available payment methods or fields differ from those above, follow the instructions shown on your Magoosh checkout rather than forcing a different payment route.
If Magoosh says “Credit Card Declined”
Magoosh identifies “Credit Card Declined” as a common payment issue. A decline does not, by itself, identify its cause. Check the following one at a time instead of repeatedly submitting the same details:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare your available card funds with the full amount being charged now, not just an advertised starting price. If funds are insufficient, address that in Coinepay and retry after confirming the updated balance. For installment orders, also plan for the later payments.
- Billing-detail mismatch: Re-enter the card number, expiry and security code carefully. Check that the cardholder name and billing ZIP or postal code reflect your genuine payment details. If you are unsure which billing detail applies, ask Coinepay support; do not invent one.
- Authentication or 3-D Secure: If an issuer-authentication challenge appears, follow its instructions and complete it promptly. If it times out or fails, check any guidance displayed in your Coinepay app and contact support for help. Do not assume every Magoosh payment will present the same challenge.
- Issuer or cross-border authorization: Magoosh recommends checking the available balance and asking the card issuer to pre-authorize a purchase, particularly for payments made from outside the US. Contact Coinepay support if you need help investigating an authorization decline. Magoosh also suggests another card or PayPal where available.
- Merchant region checks: Magoosh reports sign-up difficulties with Indian cards and says its payment processor does not support business with Pakistan. These are Magoosh payment restrictions, not problems to work around with a different address or location. If a restriction may affect you, ask Magoosh what payment options, if any, are available for your circumstances and contact Coinepay support to check your card’s details before another attempt.
If you see a different message, record its exact wording and whether Coinepay shows an attempted charge. Share those details with the appropriate support team, but never send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary message.
Manage payments, renewals and refunds
If you bought an installment plan and need to update its payment method, Magoosh documents the route as your profile page → Change Payment. There you can add a card and set a default payment method. Changing a card does not erase the remaining installment commitment.
GRE and TOEFL fixed-length plan FAQs say those plans do not auto-renew and instead expire at the end of their access period. SAT is different: Magoosh says its monthly or annual SAT plans auto-renew, and the monthly checkout states that it renews automatically every month. Check your SAT account and Magoosh’s current instructions for managing renewal; do not rely on the GRE or TOEFL rule.
If a purchase is unsuitable, Magoosh says to request its seven-day refund within seven days of purchase through Help or by emailing [email protected] with the subject Requesting a 7-day Refund. After that period, installments remain payable even if you stop studying. A separate full refund may be available if you meet the applicable score-guarantee conditions; read your product’s terms. For LSAT, the seven-day refund covers the Magoosh portion, not an included $124 LawHub Advantage fee. If a card issuer charged a foreign-currency transaction fee, it may retain that fee after a Magoosh refund.
