LinkedIn Ads is not a fixed-price subscription. You set a campaign budget in Campaign Manager, and charges accrue as ads deliver. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, add it to your ad account, and investigate a declined payment. Card acceptance depends on LinkedIn’s requirements and payment checks.
What you need before starting
- A LinkedIn account and an ad account. If you are creating an ad account, decide its name, associated LinkedIn Page and billing currency carefully. LinkedIn says the Page and currency cannot be changed later for that account.
- Billing-admin access. The ad account’s billing admin manages its card details in Campaign Manager. If someone else controls billing, ask that person to add or update the payment method.
- A Coinepay account with identity verification completed. Register through Coinepay, complete the required KYC process, and use the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app to obtain your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check the app for your available funds and applicable card details.
- Your real billing information. Have the billing name, address and postal code associated with your payment details ready. Enter accurate information rather than changing your address to match an advertising market.
LinkedIn documents credit-card payment for self-service Ads. Its card guidance for general online purchases does not establish which card types or networks work for Ads. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets LinkedIn Ads’ card requirements before you buy. Neither adding a card nor having sufficient funds guarantees that LinkedIn will accept a charge.
Understand LinkedIn Ads costs before adding a card
Campaign Manager uses auction-based pricing, not a monthly Ads plan with a set checkout price. The chargeable event depends on your optimization goal and bidding strategy, while auction competition affects what you pay. Set a budget you can cover, and review the campaign’s settings before launch.
At the time of writing (October 2026), LinkedIn stated a US$10 minimum daily budget and a US$100 minimum lifetime budget for a new, inactive campaign in the United States. These are budget minimums, not card fees or guaranteed spend. Requirements can differ by campaign and market; check LinkedIn’s official advertising budget guidance in Campaign Manager before committing.
Card charges may occur after your ads have started delivering rather than when you first add the card. For USD accounts, LinkedIn states an initial US$100 payment threshold: spending that crosses it is charged the next day, while a balance below it is charged on the first day of the following month. Thresholds for other currencies may differ. Leave room for charges resulting from ads already delivered, even if you later pause a campaign.
Create a LinkedIn Ads account and prepare your campaign
- Sign in to LinkedIn and select For Business → Advertise.
- Choose an ad-account name, the LinkedIn Page and a billing currency. Review these selections before creating the account because the Page and currency cannot subsequently be changed for that account.
- Accept the Ads Agreement and create the account.
- In Campaign Manager, configure your campaign and ad set, including your objective, audience, budget and schedule, then create the ad.
- Review the campaign and its payment setup before launch. LinkedIn reviews the ad before it runs.
If you see older instructions about an Accelerate campaign type, note that LinkedIn stopped offering Accelerate as a standalone option for new campaigns in August 2026. Its core creation capabilities moved into Classic. Follow the current options shown in your Campaign Manager account rather than looking for a separate Accelerate setup.
Add your Coinepay virtual card to Campaign Manager
- In the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app, locate your issued virtual card and check its number, expiry date, CVV and available funds. Do not share these details in a public message or support forum.
- As the LinkedIn ad account’s billing admin, open Campaign Manager → ad account → Billing → Billing setup → How you’ll pay.
- For an existing card, choose Update credit card. For a first-time setup, choose Add payment details.
- Enter the card details and your real billing information as requested. Check every digit, the expiry date and the billing postal code before saving.
- Return to your campaign, review its budget and launch when the payment setup and ad are ready. Watch Campaign Manager for ad-review and billing updates.
You can manage Coinepay through its 24/7 dashboard or download the app for iOS or Android. For businesses managing several advertising accounts, Coinepay supports a dedicated virtual card for each ad account and custom spending limits per card. Set any limit with the planned ad budget and outstanding charges in mind; a limit set too low can interrupt billing.
Why a LinkedIn Ads card payment may be declined
A rejection can come from card details, available funds, authentication, issuer rules or LinkedIn’s own checks. Start with the billing information shown for the affected ad account. If a charge has failed, LinkedIn advises the billing admin to resolve the issue with the financial institution, then re-add the card or add another eligible credit card. LinkedIn says advertisers cannot manually pay a held ad account’s card balance through a separate card payment.
Insufficient funds or a spending limit
Check the available amount and any limit set on the Coinepay card. Remember that LinkedIn can bill for delivered activity after campaign launch or after you pause delivery. If your available amount cannot cover a pending charge, address that first, then revisit the payment method in Billing setup. Check the Coinepay app or contact support for questions about funding and limits; do not assume a campaign budget is the same as the amount currently due.
Incorrect card or billing details
LinkedIn lists expired or invalid card details and a billing ZIP-code mismatch among possible decline reasons. Compare the number, expiry date and CVV with the current card in Coinepay, and check the postal code entered in LinkedIn. Use your genuine billing details. Re-entering a card will not fix an unrelated account restriction or an unpaid balance.
3-D Secure or recurring-payment checks
If an authentication prompt appears, complete it using the legitimate method presented during checkout. If it fails or never arrives, record what happened and contact Coinepay support; the issuer may be able to identify why a transaction was blocked. LinkedIn also lists recurring transactions being disallowed as a possible cause. Where applicable, India-based recurring Ads payments may require bank e-mandate authentication and consent. Do not try to bypass an authentication request.
Merchant region or card-eligibility checks
LinkedIn’s paid-product restrictions, billing requirements and available account currencies can affect setup or payment. Its restrictions on countries available for ad targeting are a separate issue from card acceptance. Check the message in Campaign Manager and confirm that your actual location, business information and billing details meet LinkedIn’s rules. If the card may not meet LinkedIn’s self-service credit-card requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm eligibility before retrying. Do not use a false address or someone else’s identity to get around a regional check.
If LinkedIn places the ad account on hold, ask the billing admin to review the account’s Billing section and any instructions LinkedIn provides. A reported hold message has referred to a payment-processing issue and asked advertisers to update card information, but wording and resolution can vary. If corrected details do not clear the hold, contact LinkedIn support and provide the relevant account and charge information. A temporary card-verification hold may also appear; LinkedIn says such a hold may clear in five to seven business days.
Pause ads or change how the account pays
To stop future ad delivery, use the Off/On toggle at Campaign Manager → Advertise → campaign → Ad sets. Pausing does not erase charges for activity already delivered. LinkedIn says delivered, charged pay-per-action Ads activity is generally non-refundable, subject to applicable local law.
Eligible businesses may apply for monthly invoicing through Business Manager → Ads Billing Center. This is a separate payment arrangement, not a subscription tier: LinkedIn lists wire transfer, ACH and check for invoice payments. LinkedIn also says an ad account switched to monthly invoicing cannot switch back to card payment. If you intend to keep paying that account with a virtual card, consider this before applying.
