Hootsuite is a social media management platform used for scheduling posts, monitoring engagement and reporting across networks. If you manage your campaigns and want to keep that spending separate from your main account, a Coinepay virtual card can be a tidy way to handle the subscription. This guide walks through what you need, how the Hootsuite sign-up and checkout work, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment.

Before you start: what you need

To pay for any online service with a Coinepay virtual card, set a few things up first:

  • A verified Coinepay account. Register at the Coinepay sign-up page and complete identity verification (KYC). Card services are only available after KYC is approved. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
  • A funded virtual card. Create a card in the Coinepay app (iOS or Google Play) or dashboard. Note the card number, expiry date and CVV, which appear instantly in the app.
  • Your real billing details. Use your genuine name and billing address. Payment checks compare these against your card record, so accuracy matters.
  • A Hootsuite account. You can sign up with email or with Google, Facebook, LinkedIn or X.
Important: Hootsuite's billing FAQ states that debit cards, prepaid cards and PayPal eChecks are not accepted for its self-serve billing flow; it lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and PayPal instant payments as accepted. Because Coinepay does not publish which of these categories a given card falls into here, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Hootsuite's requirement before you buy.

Choose a Hootsuite plan

Hootsuite's public self-serve tiers are Standard, Professional and Advanced, with Enterprise available as a custom-quote option. At the time of writing (October 2026), Hootsuite's pricing page shows US-dollar reference rates of $99 (Standard), $199 (Professional) and $399 (Advanced) per user/month, expressed as monthly rates billed annually, with applicable taxes extra.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Month-to-month checkout prices for these plans, and local prices in GBP, CAD, AUD and euros, vary by region and were not exposed on the public page, so treat the USD figures as reference only and confirm the current price on Hootsuite's official pricing page before you pay.
  • Enterprise is not a self-serve checkout; it directs you to request a demo for custom pricing.
  • Hootsuite's help article updated 14 October 2026 distinguishes newer "Suite Standard," "Suite Professional" and "Suite Advanced" accounts from older, similarly named plans. Moving from a legacy plan to a Suite plan may require a new account and support-assisted migration rather than an ordinary in-account upgrade.

Start a trial or go straight to paid

Hootsuite's current pricing FAQ says you can start a 14-day trial without a credit card, and that the trial does not automatically become a paid charge; instead you choose a paid plan and enter payment details to continue. Note that official pages have conflicted on this point in the past, so read the exact terms shown at your checkout before you confirm.

  1. On the Hootsuite plans page, select the plan you want and start the trial, or choose to subscribe directly.
  2. Create or sign in to your account using email or a supported social login.
  3. When you are ready to pay, you will be asked to enter payment details to activate the paid plan.

Enter your Coinepay card at checkout

At the payment step, select card payment and enter the details exactly as they appear in your Coinepay app:

  1. Card number — the long number on the virtual card.
  2. Expiry date — month and year shown in the app.
  3. CVV — the 3- or 4-digit security code.
  4. Billing name and address — your real details that match your Coinepay record.

Before you click confirm, double-check the plan, the billing cycle (monthly vs annual) and the total including tax. Self-serve subscriptions renew monthly or annually unless cancelled, and the annual option is a one-year commitment paid as a single, normally non-refundable payment. If a 3-D Secure prompt appears, complete the verification in your Coinepay app to approve the charge.

Where to manage billing and invoices

Once you are subscribed, you manage everything from the dashboard:

  • Change your payment method or retry an outstanding charge: Account → Social accounts and teams → Plan and billing → Billing Info.
  • Download invoices: Plan and billing → Billing history.
  • Cancel or change the plan: Account → Plan and billing → Update subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid or trial period rather than immediately.

Troubleshooting a declined payment

If Hootsuite rejects the card, work through the likely causes below. Hootsuite's own advice is to contact your issuing financial institution if the method is in good standing, or to replace the payment method.

Card type not accepted

As noted above, Hootsuite says it does not accept debit or prepaid cards for self-serve billing. If your payment fails and you suspect this is the reason, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets Hootsuite's requirement, and ask whether another Coinepay card or payment route is suitable.

Insufficient balance

Make sure the card holds enough to cover the full plan price plus any applicable tax. Annual plans charge the whole year up front, which is a larger single amount than a monthly charge. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry from Billing Info.

Billing address mismatch

A common silent decline is an address that does not match your card record. Re-enter your billing name and address exactly as held by Coinepay, with the correct country and postal code.

3-D Secure not completed

If you miss or dismiss the verification prompt, the bank may decline the charge. Retry and keep the Coinepay app open to approve the 3-D Secure request.

Merchant region or card-country checks

Hootsuite's payment terms state plainly that it does not support every method, currency or payment location, and a definitive country-by-country list of supported checkout locations and card-issuing countries is not published. Some buyers in certain regions have reported card failures on annual purchases. Use your real details, do not attempt to bypass regional checks, and if the problem persists contact Hootsuite billing support and Coinepay support to confirm where the block originates.

Expired or invalid card

Hootsuite's payment terms identify an expired or otherwise invalid card as a payment problem. Check the expiry date, confirm the card is active in your Coinepay app, and replace it under Billing Info if needed.

Refunds and cancellation

Hootsuite's self-serve terms say cancelling or downgrading does not refund the remaining plan term. It does, however, accept refund requests for individual review, and approved refunds go back to the original payment method — so keep your Coinepay card active until any request is resolved. If you ever subscribe through Apple or Google rather than the web, those store refunds must be handled through Apple or Google. For Enterprise, non-renewal notice must reach [email protected] at least 60 days before the term ends unless the authorization form specifies otherwise.

Getting help

For card creation, funding, 3-D Secure or billing-address questions, reach the Coinepay team through the support page or on Telegram. For plan features, invoices or checkout errors, contact Hootsuite billing support directly. You can learn more about Coinepay virtual cards and remittance on the Coinepay home page.

FAQ

Does Hootsuite accept virtual cards?

Hootsuite's billing FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and PayPal instant payments, and says debit cards, prepaid cards and PayPal eChecks are not accepted for self-serve billing. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.

How much does Hootsuite cost?

At the time of writing (October 2026), Hootsuite's pricing page shows USD reference rates of $99 (Standard), $199 (Professional) and $399 (Advanced) per user/month billed annually, taxes extra. Local and monthly prices vary by region, so check the official pricing page before paying.

Do I need a card to start the Hootsuite trial?

Hootsuite's current pricing FAQ says you can start a 14-day trial without a credit card and that it does not auto-charge afterward. Official pages have conflicted on this, so read the exact terms shown at your checkout before confirming.

Where do I change my payment method in Hootsuite?

Go to Account → Social accounts and teams → Plan and billing → Billing Info to change your card or retry a charge. Invoices are under Plan and billing → Billing history.

Why was my card declined at Hootsuite checkout?
