Fireworks AI is a platform for running and fine-tuning large language and vision models through fast serverless and on-demand infrastructure. Since July 2026, self-serve accounts pay by buying prepaid credits rather than receiving a month-end invoice, and usage then deducts from your balance. This guide walks through creating an account, adding a payment method, buying credits, and what to do if a card is declined — using a Coinepay virtual card as your payment method.
Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you can use for AI subscriptions and other online services. Before you start, note that whether any particular merchant will accept a given card depends on the merchant's and its payment processor's own checks, so follow the steps below carefully and keep the troubleshooting section handy.
What you need before you start
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services.
- A Coinepay virtual card with enough available balance to cover the credit purchase you intend to make, plus any tax Fireworks may add under its terms.
- The exact billing address tied to your card, as shown in the Coinepay app. Fireworks' checkout, handled by Stripe, asks for a billing address, and a mismatch is a common cause of declines.
- Your real identity and real billing details. Use only accurate information — never a generated identity or an address that isn't yours.
You can create and manage Coinepay cards from the 24/7 dashboard or the mobile app on iOS and Google Play.
Step 1: Create your Fireworks AI account
Go to the official Fireworks AI site and open the sign-up page. Fireworks offers sign-up with email, Google, GitHub or LinkedIn. If you choose email, the flow begins with Create Account → Email → Next. Complete the prompts and verify your email. New accounts are documented to receive a $1 starter credit so you can test the service before adding your own funds.
Step 2: Open billing settings
Once signed in, go to your billing settings at app.fireworks.ai/account/billing. This is where Fireworks directs users to add a payment method and purchase credits. The exact on-screen button labels can change, so look for the options to add a payment method and to add or buy credits.
Step 3: Add your Coinepay virtual card
Fireworks processes payments through Stripe, which emails you a receipt for each credit purchase. Fireworks states it does not view or store full card details. When adding your card:
- In the Coinepay app, open the virtual card you want to use and copy the card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Enter these in the Fireworks/Stripe payment form.
- Enter the billing address exactly as it appears in Coinepay, including postal code and country.
- Save the payment method.
Fireworks' terms require a valid payment card accepted by both Fireworks and Stripe, and its privacy notice refers to credit and debit cards. Acceptance of any specific card — including prepaid or virtual cards and particular card networks — is determined at processing and is not something either side publishes in advance. If you want to confirm your card meets Fireworks' requirements before you buy, contact Coinepay support first.
Step 4: Buy credits (and set Auto Reload if you want)
After your payment method is saved, purchase the amount of prepaid credit you want. Usage across Fireworks then deducts from this balance. You can also enable Auto Reload, which buys more credit automatically when your balance drops below a threshold you choose — useful if you run production workloads and don't want usage to pause. A zero balance without Auto Reload will pause usage until you top up.
Understanding Fireworks pricing
Fireworks publishes prices in USD and may add taxes under its terms. Its deployment offerings are Serverless, On-Demand and Enterprise Reserved, with fine-tuning on a separate pricing track. Serverless has named serving paths — Standard, Priority and Fast — which are per-request options rather than monthly memberships. Account spending is organised into Tier 1 through Tier 4 and Unlimited, which govern quotas rather than being fixed-price plans.
As published examples only, Fireworks' June 30, 2026 article listed GLM 5.2 at $1.40 input / $0.14 cached input / $4.40 output per million tokens on Standard, with higher rates for Priority and Fast; an article last updated May 2026 noted Serverless starting at $0.10 per million tokens for sub-4B text/vision models and On-Demand H100/H200 from $7 per GPU-hour. These are model-specific, dated figures and are not confirmed rates for today — always check the official Fireworks pricing page, since prices vary and can change. Enterprise Reserved uses custom pricing.
If your card is declined: troubleshooting
Fireworks does not publish an exact customer-facing card-error message, and Stripe-side declines can be generic. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
Make sure your Coinepay card has enough available balance to cover the credit amount plus any tax. Check the balance in the Coinepay app and top up the card if needed, then retry the purchase.
Billing address mismatch
Stripe checks the billing address against what the card issuer has on file. Re-enter the address exactly as it appears in your Coinepay card details — a wrong postal code or country is a frequent decline reason.
3-D Secure / extra verification
Some card payments trigger an additional authentication step. If a verification prompt appears, complete it promptly in the Coinepay app or via the method your card uses. Keep the app open while you confirm the purchase.
Merchant region and risk checks
Fireworks' terms restrict use involving sanctioned or embargoed countries, territories and parties, and it does not publish a country-by-country card-eligibility list. Separately, Fireworks documents that an account can be paused for payment-verification failure or placed under manual risk review even when credits remain. If your purchase is blocked and the causes above don't apply, contact Fireworks support to ask whether a verification or review is in progress.
Usage paused despite credits
If your balance isn't zero but usage still stops, check whether a separately configured monthly spending cap has been reached — this can pause usage even with credits remaining. Adjust the cap in billing settings if appropriate.
If everything above looks correct and the card still won't go through, reach Coinepay support to confirm the card is active and suitable for this merchant, or ask our team via Telegram.
Cancellation and refunds
Because self-serve use runs on prepaid credits, there is no recurring charge to stop for ordinary API usage — you simply stop buying credits (and disable Auto Reload). For any applicable automatically renewing Subscription, Fireworks' terms require cancellation through the service or notice at least three days before the next term, with access continuing through the current term. Fees, unused subscription time and prepayments are generally non-refundable, except where law requires otherwise or Fireworks grants a refund at its discretion. Closing an account is a separate request: Fireworks' instructions say to settle outstanding invoices, terminate active deployments and request deletion with your account ID.
Managing your Coinepay card
For better control, you can keep a dedicated Coinepay virtual card for your Fireworks AI spending and top it up before each credit purchase. Businesses can issue separate cards with custom spending limits for different tools, which makes reconciling AI costs easier. Manage all of this anytime from the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app.

FAQ
Does Fireworks AI accept virtual cards?
Fireworks requires a valid card accepted by both Fireworks and its payment processor, Stripe, and its privacy notice mentions credit and debit cards. Acceptance of any specific card, including virtual or prepaid cards, is decided at processing and isn't published in advance. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before you buy.
Is Fireworks AI a monthly subscription I pay for with my card?
Self-serve Fireworks accounts use prepaid credits since July 2026: you buy credits with your card and usage deducts from the balance. It isn't a fixed monthly membership. Some contracted or auto-renewing Subscriptions have their own cancellation terms.
Why was my Coinepay card declined on Fireworks AI?
Common causes are insufficient card balance, a billing address that doesn't match your card details, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, or a payment-verification or risk review on Fireworks' side. Check each, then contact Coinepay support if it still fails.
How much does Fireworks AI cost?
Fireworks prices in USD and offers Serverless, On-Demand and Enterprise Reserved, with Serverless paths named Standard, Priority and Fast. Rates vary by model and can change, so check the official Fireworks pricing page for current figures; taxes may be added.
Can I get a refund on Fireworks AI credits?
Fireworks' terms state fees and prepayments are generally non-refundable, except where law requires it or Fireworks grants a refund at its discretion. You can raise requests about improper charges with Fireworks support.
