If you came here to subscribe to Evernote Personal, there's one important thing to know first: Evernote has discontinued the Personal and Professional individual plans. According to Evernote's own help center, they are no longer available for new purchase or reinstatement, and existing users are being migrated gradually. The individual tiers you can buy today are Evernote Starter and Evernote Advanced (plus the free Evernote Free tier). This guide shows you how to pay for the current Evernote individual plan using a Coinepay virtual card, and how to handle a declined payment.

What you need before you start

Evernote's website lists credit or debit cards as a payment option, along with PayPal in selected countries; purchases made inside the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by Apple and Google. If you want to pay directly on Evernote.com with a card, have these ready:

  • A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services. If you haven't yet, create your account and finish verification first.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with enough available balance to cover the plan. Coinepay issues the card number, expiry date and CVV instantly in the dashboard and the iOS or Android app.
  • Your real billing details—name and billing address—exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
  • An Evernote account (you can create one during checkout).

Evernote's guidance does not publish a network-by-network list of which card brands or card types it accepts. Because card acceptance can depend on the network and issuer, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable for this purchase before you buy. Never assume—and note that some services are not available in every jurisdiction, and services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China.

How much does Evernote cost?

Evernote prices depend on your region and the currency stored on your account, and Apple or Google Play prices may differ from the website. At the time of writing (October 2026), Evernote's published subscription rates in a few markets were:

RegionStarterAdvanced
United States (USD)$14.99/mo or $99.00/yr$24.99/mo or $249.99/yr
Euro markets (EUR)€12.99/mo or €79.90/yr€21.99/mo or €199.99/yr
United Kingdom (GBP)£8.99/mo or £64.90/yr£14.99/mo or £154.90/yr
Canada (CAD)C$17.99/mo or C$124.90/yrC$30.99/mo or C$309.99/yr
Australia (AUD)A$17.99/mo or A$124.90/yrA$30.99/mo or A$309.99/yr
Japan (JPY)¥1,100/mo or ¥7,099/yr¥1,799/mo or ¥17,899/yr

These are Evernote's published rates, not confirmed prices for every account or app-store checkout. Always confirm the current price for your region on Evernote's official compare-plans page before paying.

Step by step: subscribe and pay on Evernote.com

  1. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and check that your virtual card has enough balance for the plan and currency you intend to pay in. Keep the card number, expiry and CVV handy.
  2. Go to Evernote.com and open the plan comparison page. Choose Starter or Advanced and pick monthly or yearly billing.
  3. Sign in to your Evernote account, or create one if you're new.
  4. At checkout, select the card payment option offered for your region. (PayPal appears only in selected countries; Apple and Google Play apply if you subscribe inside those apps instead.)
  5. Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV. For the billing name and address, use your real details as held by Coinepay.
  6. If your bank or card issuer triggers a 3-D Secure confirmation, approve it through the method prompted by Coinepay.
  7. Review the total and confirm. Once the payment succeeds, your Evernote plan activates and the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel.

To manage the card later, go to Account Settings → Billing in Evernote Web. Billing → Payment Method → Edit updates a directly billed card, and the Billing Profile shows who processes your subscription. Note that switching from direct-card billing to Apple, Google Play or PayPal generally requires canceling, waiting for the paid term to expire, then resubscribing.

If your card is declined

Evernote lists several checks when a card payment fails, and it may place a failed payment "in Retry" status, attempting up to seven times within four business days. Work through these common causes:

Incorrect or expired card details

Re-enter the card number, CVV and expiry exactly as shown in your Coinepay app. A typo or an old card is one of the first things Evernote flags.

Insufficient balance

Confirm the available balance in Coinepay covers the full charge in the billing currency. Top up or choose a lower-cost plan or the monthly option if needed, then retry.

Currency mismatch

Evernote also flags a mismatch with the account's currency. The currency shown depends on your region and the currency stored on your Evernote account; if it doesn't match what your card supports, review your Evernote subscription currency setting before trying again.

Billing address mismatch

If the billing name or address you typed doesn't match your Coinepay records, the issuer may reject the charge. Use the exact details on file—never a made-up or borrowed address.

3-D Secure not completed

If the verification prompt times out or is dismissed, the payment fails. Start again and complete the confirmation step promptly.

Card unsuitable for online payments or region checks

Evernote mentions a card that is unsuitable for online payments as a possible cause, and checkout options vary by region. If you've ruled out the items above, reach out to Coinepay support to confirm your card works for online, recurring international payments. One user reported the message "We were unable to process your payment because of a system error"; its cause is not documented, so if you see it, wait a short while and retry, or contact Evernote support.

Do not use a VPN, a fake address or any workaround to bypass a regional or payment check. Use your real identity and details—this keeps both your Coinepay account and your Evernote subscription in good standing.

Cancellations and refunds

For a directly billed subscription, cancel in Evernote Web under Account Settings → Billing → Manage → Cancel plan (or Cancel subscription where offered). Paid access continues to the end of the billing period, after which the account becomes Free. Apple- and Google-billed subscriptions must be canceled through those stores.

Evernote's refund policy provides a refund when it receives a request within 20 days of a monthly payment or 60 days of an annual payment, subject to local law and stated exceptions. For a direct card purchase, request a refund via Billing → Billing history → Need help? if available, otherwise through Evernote's contact form. Remember that a refund is issued by Evernote back to the original payment method; Coinepay cannot force or speed up a merchant refund.

A note on recent Evernote changes

Evernote announced revised agreements dated October 1, 2026, which apply immediately to newer sign-ups; for accounts created before October 1, 2026, the change is scheduled for December 1, 2026. Evernote says the transition itself does not change your plan, price or renewal date, and that any recurring-price change is notified in advance and takes effect no earlier than the next scheduled billing date. Always check the current terms and pricing on Evernote's official site before subscribing.

FAQ

Can I still buy Evernote Personal?

No. Evernote has discontinued the Personal and Professional individual plans, and they are not available for new purchase or reinstatement. New individual subscribers choose Evernote Starter or Evernote Advanced, or stay on the free Evernote Free tier.

Does Evernote accept my Coinepay virtual card?

Evernote lists credit or debit cards as a payment option but does not publish a brand-by-brand acceptance list. Card acceptance depends on the network and issuer, so contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before you buy.

Why was my card declined at Evernote checkout?

Common causes Evernote lists are incorrect number, CVV or expiry, an expired card, a card unsuitable for online payments, insufficient funds, and a currency mismatch. Also check your billing address matches your Coinepay records and complete any 3-D Secure prompt.

How do I update the card Evernote charges?

In Evernote Web, go to Account Settings → Billing, then Payment Method → Edit to update a directly billed card. Switching to Apple, Google Play or PayPal usually means canceling, waiting for the term to expire, then resubscribing.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Evernote's policy gives a refund if it receives your request within 20 days of a monthly payment or 60 days of an annual payment, subject to local law. For direct card purchases, request it via Billing → Billing history → Need help? or Evernote's contact form.
