Brilliant is an interactive online learning platform for math, data, computer science and science. Premium unlocks the full library beyond the Free tier's daily lesson limits. This guide shows how to get a Coinepay virtual card ready, create your Brilliant account, choose a plan and pay at checkout, and what to do if your card is declined.

Before you start: one important card rule

Brilliant's own help pages state that it accepts most major credit and debit cards but does not accept prepaid cards. Coinepay does not disclose here whether your specific virtual card falls into a category Brilliant will accept, so do not assume it does. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy. If a payment is rejected, you will not be charged, and you can try a different accepted payment method.

You will also need:

  • A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, visible in your Coinepay dashboard or the iOS / Android app.
  • Enough balance on the card to cover the plan you select, since Brilliant Premium is typically billed as one annual (or monthly) payment.
  • Your real billing details, matching the identity on your Coinepay account.

Brilliant plans at a glance

Brilliant offers a Free tier and Premium. The officially described Premium options are the Annual individual plan, the Monthly individual plan and the Annual family plan (which covers six accounts). A Single Child plan gives one child Premium while the supervising parent stays on Free. For larger organizations, a Group plan covers 3–50 people on an annual basis.

Prices are location-sensitive and shown on Brilliant's subscription page in your local currency. At the time of writing (October 2026), some displays showed figures such as US$20/month Individual and US$40/month Family, and a Group display showed US$33.99/month for three seats plus US$10.10/month per additional seat, billed as one annual payment. Because these pages mix monthly-equivalent figures with an annual billing note, treat the total you actually pay as whatever Brilliant shows at checkout. Always confirm the current price on Brilliant's official subscription page before you buy.

Step 1: Create your Brilliant account

  1. Go to brilliant.org in a web browser (you can also use the iOS or Android app).
  2. Sign up with your email, Google, or Apple account.
  3. Verify your email if prompted and complete the short onboarding questions.

You can explore the Free tier first to see whether Brilliant suits you before upgrading.

Step 2: Choose a Premium plan

  1. On the web, open Brilliant's subscription page (the /subscribe/ area of the site).
  2. Review the plans available to your account and region — for example Annual individual, Monthly individual, or Annual family.
  3. Select the plan you want. Note the term (monthly or annual) and the total shown, as Premium plans usually renew automatically.
If you are starting an eligible free trial, Brilliant may ask for payment details up front, charge nothing at activation, and convert to the paid cycle you selected unless you cancel. Brilliant recommends canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you do not want to continue.

Step 3: Enter your Coinepay card at checkout

  1. When Brilliant asks for payment details, open your Coinepay dashboard or app and copy your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV.
  2. Enter the card number, expiry and CVV into Brilliant's checkout form.
  3. Enter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
  4. If your bank or card program triggers 3-D Secure, approve the confirmation prompt in the Coinepay app or via the one-time code sent to you.
  5. Review the final total and confirm the purchase. Premium access is usually granted immediately after a successful charge.

Tip: subscribing on the web usually makes it easiest to manage your card later. If you subscribe through the iOS or Android app, billing may be handled by Apple or Google rather than by your card directly.

Step 4: Confirm and save your records

After payment, check that Premium is active on your account and keep the confirmation email or receipt. In Coinepay, you can review the matching transaction in your dashboard. Keeping both records side by side makes future support requests, renewals or refund questions much easier.

Troubleshooting: why a Brilliant payment can be declined

Past purchasers have reported messages such as "Unable to process payment" and "Card has been declined," and in some cases a card accepted for a trial but declined for the full subscription. The underlying reason is not shown in the error, so work through these common causes.

Card type restriction

Brilliant states it does not accept prepaid cards. If your payment is refused and your balance and details are correct, this restriction may be the cause. Do not assume your Coinepay card qualifies — ask Coinepay support to confirm your card type before retrying, and consider whether another accepted payment method is available to you.

Insufficient balance

Premium is usually billed as a single payment for the whole term, not a small monthly amount. Make sure your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the full total (including any currency conversion) shown at checkout, then top up in the Coinepay app if needed.

Billing address mismatch

If the name or address you entered does not match what your card program has on file, the charge can fail an address check. Re-enter your real billing details exactly as they appear in your Coinepay account.

3-D Secure not completed

If a verification prompt appears and is not approved in time, the payment is cancelled. Have the Coinepay app open and ready to approve, then retry.

Currency or region checks

Brilliant shows prices based on your location, and card programs may apply their own checks on cross-border or foreign-currency charges. Use your real details rather than trying to work around any regional or payment check — doing so breaks Brilliant's terms and Coinepay's rules. If payments keep failing, contact Coinepay support and also reach out to Brilliant's support for the merchant-side reason.

Managing, cancelling or refunding your subscription

For web subscriptions, open Subscription Settings → Manage subscription to change your payment method or cancel. Cancelling stops renewal but keeps Premium through the period you already paid for; Brilliant's terms ask for a cancellation request at least one business day before the term ends to avoid the next charge. Family-plan billing is controlled by the plan administrator.

If you subscribed through an app store, cancel where you were billed: iOS users in Settings → [name] → Subscriptions, and Android users in Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

Payments are generally nonrefundable, including partially used periods, except where law requires otherwise, though Brilliant may grant a discretionary courtesy refund. Some web accounts show a Request a refund option in Subscription Settings that immediately ends the subscription and refunds the most recent charge; app-store purchases must be refunded through Apple or Google.

Need help?

For card questions — balance, verification status or a declined charge — reach Coinepay through the support center or Telegram, or manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard and the iOS and Android apps. FAQ

Does Brilliant accept virtual cards?

Brilliant says it accepts most major credit and debit cards but not prepaid cards. Whether your Coinepay virtual card qualifies is not something we state here, so contact Coinepay support to confirm your card type before you subscribe.

Which Brilliant plan should I choose?

Brilliant offers Free and Premium. Premium options include an Annual individual plan, a Monthly individual plan and an Annual family plan (six accounts), plus a Single Child plan and a Group plan for 3–50 people. Pick the one that fits your household or team.

How much does Brilliant Premium cost?

Prices are location-sensitive and shown in your local currency on Brilliant's subscription page, usually billed as one annual (or monthly) payment. Always confirm the current total at checkout on Brilliant's official page before paying.

Why was my Coinepay card declined at Brilliant checkout?

Common causes are insufficient balance for the full term, a billing address that doesn't match your card details, an unconfirmed 3-D Secure prompt, or the prepaid-card restriction. Check each, and contact Coinepay support if payments keep failing.

How do I cancel or get a refund for Brilliant?

Cancel web subscriptions in Subscription Settings → Manage subscription, or in the relevant app store if billed there. Payments are generally nonrefundable, but some web accounts show a Request a refund option, and Brilliant may grant discretionary refunds.
