If you want to subscribe to Baidu ERNIE Bot with a Coinepay virtual card, check whether there is anything to buy first. As of October 2026, Baidu describes its consumer chatbot as free, and there is no confirmed current consumer membership checkout. You can use ERNIE Bot without paying for a subscription where the service is available to you. This guide explains sign-up, what to check if a paid option appears, and how to investigate a card decline without assuming that ERNIE Bot accepts virtual cards.

Check which Baidu product you need

ERNIE Bot (文心) is Baidu’s consumer chatbot. Baidu says it became free on April 1, 2025, and its March 2026 English terms describe the service as free of charge. There is no confirmed current consumer membership tier to select and no verified card checkout for it. If you see an older guide advertising a monthly or annual ERNIE membership, do not treat that as evidence that the offer is still available.

Baidu Qianfan is a separately billed developer platform. Its Token Plan Personal tiers—Mini, Lite, Pro and Max—are not ERNIE Bot membership plans. If you need API or developer-platform access, review Qianfan’s own product and billing pages rather than following consumer-chatbot purchase instructions. This article does not describe a Qianfan checkout or establish whether it accepts a Coinepay card.

Baidu’s English terms also say ERNIE Bot is unavailable in some countries and regions without listing them. Check availability in the product itself and follow the requirements shown for your location. Do not try to bypass regional, account or payment restrictions.

What you need before signing in

  • Access to ERNIE Bot in your location. Use Baidu’s current product entry point. An older ERNIE web-service site was upgraded in June 2026, so an old purchase link may not reflect the current service.
  • Your own account details. The 文心 user agreement says an existing Baidu account can be used. It also describes registration through passport.baidu.com or prompts in the product, and SMS-code login. The English terms say registration may be required for some features.
  • A payment method only if you encounter an actual paid checkout. You do not need a virtual card merely to use a free chatbot. If Baidu introduces a paid option, examine the offer, payment methods and terms displayed in your account before preparing a card.
  • A verified Coinepay account if you intend to use card services. Coinepay requires registration and identity verification before card use. Its virtual cards provide a card number, expiry date and CVV, managed through its dashboard and mobile app. That does not establish acceptance at a particular Baidu checkout.

Step by step: sign up and check for a payment option

  1. Open the current ERNIE Bot service. Start from Baidu’s current product experience, not an old membership promotion or saved checkout link. Confirm that the service is offered where you live.
  2. Sign in or register. Use your existing Baidu account if you have one. Otherwise, follow the registration prompts presented by the product; Baidu’s user agreement also identifies passport.baidu.com as a registration route. If SMS-code login is offered, enter the code sent to your own number.
  3. Use the free service if that is what your account displays. There is no confirmed current consumer membership to purchase. Do not enter card details on an unrelated page simply because it mentions ERNIE.
  4. If a paid offer appears, read it before proceeding. Verify the product name, service term, price, renewal terms, refund policy and available payment channels on Baidu’s own screen. A Qianfan Token Plan Personal tier is a developer-platform purchase, not a consumer ERNIE Bot subscription. Prices and offers can change; use the relevant product’s official pricing page for current details.
  5. Only if the checkout actually provides a card-entry option, check its requirements. Complete Coinepay registration and identity verification, then find your card number, expiry date and CVV in the Coinepay dashboard or app. Enter your real name and accurate billing details as requested by the checkout. Review the final amount and terms before confirming. Card acceptance at a current ERNIE Bot checkout is not established, so do not assume this step will be available.

Older ERNIE membership terms describe signing in, choosing the displayed service term and paying through a Baidu-designated channel. Those instructions describe a legacy purchase process, not a verified checkout available today. The legacy terms mention Alipay and WeChat Pay among payment methods, but they do not establish that a current ERNIE Bot checkout takes direct virtual-card payments.

If a card payment is declined

There is no verified current ERNIE Bot card-decline message to interpret. First confirm that you are on a genuine, currently available paid checkout for the product you intend to buy. Save the exact message shown, the product name and the time of the attempt. Then work through these checks rather than repeatedly submitting the same details:

  • Insufficient balance: Check the funds available for the card and the full amount shown at checkout. Legacy ERNIE auto-renewal terms identify insufficient payment-account balance as one possible reason a renewal could fail; that is not a specific card-decline code. If you are unsure how much is needed for a card attempt, check the Coinepay app or contact Coinepay support.
  • Billing address mismatch: Compare the name and billing details you entered with your real account and cardholder details. Correct typos, but never substitute a false address to satisfy a regional check. If Baidu asks for billing information your card cannot provide, ask support what to do before retrying.
  • 3-D Secure or another verification step: If the checkout requests an authentication action, follow the instructions actually presented. If a prompt does not appear or fails, note its wording and contact Coinepay support to check what happened with the card attempt. Do not assume a particular authentication feature is available for your card.
  • Merchant region or payment-method checks: Baidu may limit service availability by location, and a displayed checkout may have its own payment requirements. Check Baidu’s on-screen eligibility and accepted-method information. If it specifies a card type or issuing-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy. Do not change your location details to get around a restriction.

If Baidu does not show a direct card option, a card decline is not the issue: choose only a payment method you can legitimately use, or ask Baidu about the options offered for that product. Coinepay support can help investigate your card, but cannot determine Baidu’s current product eligibility or promise that its checkout will accept a payment.

Find an older order or subscription

If you previously paid for ERNIE membership, Baidu’s refund guidance locates website purchases under profile/avatar → My Orders → Membership Orders or Membership Card Orders. It identifies My → Membership Center as a former app route. These are useful places to look for a historical purchase, not confirmed present-day billing settings for every account.

For a legacy auto-renewing membership, Baidu’s published cancellation instructions specify App Store → Account → Subscriptions on iOS, or 文心 app → My → Settings → Membership Center → Order Management → Auto-renewal Management on Android. The terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends and that access continues through the paid-through period. Menus may differ now, so use the subscription record available in your account if those paths are absent.

Baidu published a specific refund arrangement when ERNIE Bot became free. Its old-order page describes statuses including refunding, refund failed and refunded. If you have an unresolved historical order, inspect its status and contact Baidu through the support details shown in your account or its refund guidance. That historical arrangement should not be confused with the English terms’ general statement that future purchases are normally non-refundable except as specified in the terms or required by law.

Before you try again

For consumer ERNIE Bot, the practical next step is to sign in and use the free service if it is available to you—not to obtain a card for a subscription that has no confirmed checkout. If a new paid offer appears, verify that it belongs to ERNIE Bot rather than Qianfan, read the current terms and check the payment methods displayed. You can register with Coinepay if you need a virtual card for an eligible purchase, but confirm the merchant’s requirements before entering card details.

No. As of October 2026, Baidu describes the consumer chatbot as free, and no current consumer membership checkout is confirmed.

Can I pay for ERNIE Bot directly with a Coinepay card?

Direct card acceptance at a current ERNIE Bot checkout is not confirmed. Check the payment options Baidu actually displays before preparing a card.

Are Qianfan Mini, Lite, Pro and Max ERNIE Bot subscriptions?

No. They are Token Plan Personal tiers for Baidu Qianfan, a separately billed developer platform.

Where can I find an old ERNIE membership order?

Baidu’s refund guide points to profile/avatar → My Orders → Membership Orders or Membership Card Orders for website purchases; an older app route is My → Membership Center.
